The Darkest Timeline

Well, 2020 is the gift that keeps on giving. A few days ago I ruptured a disc in my back, which is something I always hear about people doing but never really thought about it, because why would I?
I had stupidly tried to move something heavy by myself, heard and felt a pop in my spine, before sinking to the ground in a very inelegant manner. I do not recommend it at all. So now I’m fairly incapacitated, lying on my back and wincing in pain if I have to move, cough or laugh.
As a fidget-y person, this is a nightmare, forced to stay in the same position for hours at a time is not my idea of fun. I can’t even sit up! I have my laptop rather precariously balanced on some cushions in front of me and, headphones perched on my head, and a lot of audio books queued up.

I’m going to try and be as productive as I can during this time, because I figure a distracted mind means less tossing around and thus a faster healing back. Since the quarantine is still in place, it’s probably the most convenient time to mess your back up. Gotta find that silver lining, right?

I’ve been behind on some things, such as fashion and style news (who cares what shoes to get for the autumn when I haven’t worn shoes in months?) and wow did I miss some things. Some things are making a return that I’m actually pretty psyched about, and are enough to make me want to dress in something other than sweats.

Combat boots, long skirts, mini skirts, wide leg trousers, printed jeans and trousers, colored boots, knee boots and tie dye – all things I love. I can see influences from the fun K-Pop global obsession, laid back vibes influenced from the homebound quarantine, nostalgia, and making a statement. Not bold per se, but a feeling of being unafraid to have a statement piece. Comfort still reigns, and big silhouettes naturally fit with that. I’m still trying to only buy second hand and doing a one-in and one-out rule, but if the trends continue this way it’s going to be tricky.
